Ternopil region

Ternopil region occupies the western part of Podil plateau, bordering in the north on Rovno, in the south on Chernivtsi, in the south-west on Ivano-Frankivsk, in the west on Lviv. Ternopil region is located near the Ukrainian border with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.

In respect of administrative and territorial the region consists of 17 districts, 16 cities, including one regional subordination, 19 towns and 1017 villages.


The administrative center is Ternopil.

Ternopil region is an agrarian - industrial region. Its location in the western part of the Right forest steppe in area with fertile soils and sufficient moistening promotes developing of agricultural production and the location near Lvov - Volyn coal field and the industrial Prykarpattia promotes developing various branches of industrial production
