About the region

Kiev region

It is located in the central part of Ukraine, in the middle flow of the Dnipro river. In the north it borders on the Gomel region of Belarus in the east on the Chernihiv and Poltava, in the south-east and south on Cherkassy, in the south-west on Vinnitsa, in the west on the Zhytomyr region.

The administrative center is Kiev, which is a city of republican subordination, and accordingly is a separate administrative subject of Ukraine.

Administrative-territorial division of the region:
There are 25 administrative districts, 25 cities, including 11 - of regional subordination, 30 towns, 1221 villages. The largest cities are White Church, Brovary, Borispol, Fastov.

Kiev region is a well developed industrial-agrarian region of Ukraine. Industry takes the lead place in the structure of INP, agriculture is the second, than construction, transportation and services follow. Electricity and food industries are the basis of industry also they mark out machine-building, metal-working, chemistry and petrochemistry.
