Donetsk region

Donetsk region is situated in the steppe zone of south-eastern part of Ukraine. In the south-west and west it is bordered on the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia in the north-west on Kharkov in the north-east on the Lugansk regions of Ukraine in the east on the Rostov regions of the Russian Federation, and in the south it is washed by Azov Sea.

Donetsk Oblast includes 51 city, 28. regional importance, 21 intracity district, 132 towns, 18 rural districts, 253 rural councils, 1124 rural settlements. The biggest cities of the region. Donetsk, Makiyivka, Mariupol, Gorlovka, Kramatorsk. The regional center is Donetsk.

Within the Donetsk region, formed the city and towns that have grown near the mines, steelworks and chemical plants, railway junctions. Urban settlements create greater agglomeration: Donetsk-Makeyevka, Gorlovsky-Enakievskuyu, Kramatorsk-Konstantinovsky, Torez-Snezhnyanskuyu.
